On September 13, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), along with Congressman Greg Landsman (OH-01), introduced bipartisan legislation that would expand the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) introduced the companion legislation in the Senate. This legislation seeks to amend the Dayton Aviation Heritage Preservation Act of 1992 to adjust the boundary of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. The proposed expansion includes approximately one acre of land.
On September 5, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) announced that over $3 million in federal funds have been awarded to local firefighters in the Southwest Ohio area. The Miami Valley Fire District, which is in Turner's district, was allocated funds under the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Fiscal Year 2022 Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Program. Recipients are eligible to direct these funds toward increasing staffing and deployment capabilities to respond to emergencies.
