DAYTON, OHIO – On August 9, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) toured the Kettering Health Victor J. Cassano Health Center and met with physicians and staff to discuss the center's facility upgrade, for which he secured $1.25 million in direct federal funding. Following the tour, Congressman Turner held a press conference at the renovated facility with Brenda Kuhn, Interim President of Kettering Health Dayton.

“The newly renovated Cassano Health Center continues its excellent work in providing health care for those who need it most in our community,” said Congressman Mike Turner. “With the $1.25 million in federal funding, Cassano Health Center has increased its capabilities with imaging and medical technology that is state-of-the-art, giving the physicians and the staff here a greater ability to provide care. I'll continue to support the outstanding work being done at the Cassano Health Center.”

“We can’t thank Congressman Turner enough for his continued support and advocacy for the health of our communities, especially in West Dayton,” said Brenda Kuhn, Interim President of Kettering Health Dayton. “The funds he secured have allowed us to expand services and capacity to care at the Kettering Health Cassano Health Center, increasing access to life-changing healthcare to underserved community members in Dayton.”

Background:

The Cassano Health Center is among Dayton's largest providers of primary and specialty care as well as wraparound social services to the underserved members of the Miami Valley community. This facility is staffed by Kettering Health Dayton (formerly Grandview Hospital) resident physicians and their attending trainers, and makes certain that marginalized groups have access to ongoing medical care and the specialists that they need.

In Fiscal Year 2022, Congressman Turner secured $1.25 million for the Cassano Health Center, with the recipient being the Grandview Foundation. This funding was included as part of H.R. 2471, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, which became law in March 2022. The funding comes through the Department of Health and Human Services – Health Resources and Services Administration.

In 2003, Congressman Turner was instrumental in securing federal funding that supported the original construction of the Cassano Health Center.
