Today, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) released a statement following the declassification and release of the 2017 HPSCI Majority staff report. The report claims to reveal new details about the Obama-era Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which allegedly contributed to what is termed as the "Russia collusion hoax" against President Trump.

Chairman Crawford stated, “This report is the final nail in the coffin of the Russia hoax, which has perpetrated the greatest political fraud on the American people for over 8 years and undermined President Trump’s first term in office." He criticized how intelligence was purportedly manipulated to support a false narrative.

Crawford further noted that this issue has caused significant division within the United States. He said, “The Russia hoax will go down as one of the most troublesome events in U.S. history... our country is more polarized than ever before, and the Russia hoax played a role in that."

He accused CIA officials and directors of assembling misleading intelligence reports to create a biased narrative. “A handful of unelected bureaucrats at the CIA... were able to cobble together pieces of ‘intelligence,’” he stated.

In his statement, Crawford also emphasized his commitment to ensuring accountability within intelligence operations. “When I became Chair, I swore we would address analytic integrity and start holding those who refuse to do the right thing accountable," he declared.

The report indicates that Russian President Vladimir Putin had no preference regarding who won the 2016 Presidential Election and expected Hillary Clinton to win. It alleges that explosive information regarding Clinton's health and potential criminal acts by federal employees was withheld by Russia during her campaign.

Crawford acknowledged former HPSCI Chairman Nunes for his efforts in bringing this investigation forward despite facing obstacles from various agencies. “Ultimately, thanks to President Trump, light is illuminating the truth,” he concluded.

The Committee's findings suggest malpractice among CIA analysts involved with crafting evidence related to Russian preferences during elections. It highlights several failures such as ignoring credible intelligence or misrepresenting data.
