This weekend, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) recognized nine students from the Miami Valley for receiving nominations to United States service academies. The honored students have been accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy.

“We honored nine incredible students from our community that have answered the call to service of this great nation. There is nothing more honorable than serving your community and country,” said Congressman Mike Turner. “Every year I nominate students to these prestigious service academies, I have a renowned sense of hope, knowing that our country is in good hands with these future officers.”

The selection process for these nominations involved academic qualifications, character and leadership evaluations, physical and medical fitness assessments, and motivational interviews.

The nominated students are Tucker Culpepper from Xenia, Ohio; Audrey Welch and Macie Roberts from Beavercreek High School; Samuel Wierzbanowski from Archbishop Alter High School in Dayton; Jia Sundell-Turner from Yellow Springs High School; Brendan Ried and Samaria Williams from Centerville High School; Owen Tarjanyi from Wayne High School in Huber Heights; and Benajmin Rodriguez from Northwestern Preparatory School in Beavercreek.
