House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford has expressed his commitment to investigating Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI) and ensuring transparency regarding the issue. In response to recent developments, he released a statement following Director of National Intelligence Gabbard's pledge to investigate AHIs and release the findings.
Chairman Crawford highlighted the significance of addressing AHIs, stating, “Since joining the House Intelligence Committee in 2017, investigating reported Anomalous Health Incidents of our intelligence officers, military officers, and diplomats stationed around the world has been a top priority of mine and remains my top priority as Chairman.”
Crawford criticized the previous handling of the situation by the Intelligence Community (IC) under the Biden administration. He mentioned the Committee's ongoing investigation into the IC's approach and plans to release more information soon. He emphasized, “As I have said before, the Biden administration’s IC was wrong in its previous intelligence assessment, and we are working to set the record straight.”
Further, Crawford expressed support for DNI Gabbard's announcement of a new investigation and stated his intention to collaborate closely with her team. “I am encouraged to hear DNI Gabbard’s public commitment to launching a new investigation and hope her efforts produce thorough answers and full cooperation. I plan to remain directly engaged with her and her team throughout.”
In the past months, Chairman Crawford has addressed the topic in multiple forms, including a full Committee roundtable and an op-ed in the Washington Examiner. The Committee's probe into this matter continues with aspirations for accountability and clarity.
