Mayor Jeffrey J. Mims, Jr. has released a statement regarding the Ohio House Finance Committee's state budget proposal. The proposal plans to defund the Ohio Housing Trust Fund (OHTF), a move that has raised concerns among various stakeholders.

"The Ohio Housing Trust Fund is a critical resource that helps communities like Dayton address housing affordability and homelessness," Mims stated. He noted that from 2022 to 2024, Dayton and Montgomery County benefited from $3.5 million in support from OHTF.

However, the proposed budget for 2025-2027 aims to eliminate this program, which Mims argues would "jeopardize efforts to expand affordable housing and support for our most vulnerable residents." The Mayor is urging Ohio House members to continue their support for this crucial resource that serves Ohio's communities.

For those interested, information on contacting Ohio House representatives is available.
