The City of Dayton is gearing up for a potential winter storm expected to hit on Sunday, January 5, and Monday, January 6. Weather forecasts suggest that the storm will create hazardous driving conditions from Sunday afternoon through early to mid-week.
In response, the Department of Public Works has scheduled a full winter operation deployment starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday. A total of 44 primary snowplow drivers will begin a 16-hour work shift to treat streets and will continue rotating in 16-hour shifts as necessary.
Particular attention is being given to the Central Business District (CBD), where forecasted snow accumulations combined with below-average temperatures may hinder snow melting. The city anticipates conducting a haul-out operation after the storm, where snow plowed into parking meter zones will be loaded into dump trucks for removal.
