Congressman Mike Turner has expressed his congratulations to the Dayton Chamber of Commerce for launching the official website for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Spring Session, scheduled to take place in Dayton next year. The website aims to aid communication and preparation for both the local community and visitors attending the session from May 22-26, 2025. It will be updated regularly as event details are finalized.
"This website, along with the welcome video, serves as an essential first introduction for NATO delegates to Dayton, providing them with valuable insights before they arrive," said Congressman Mike Turner. "With ongoing updates, this platform will support seamless coordination and showcase Dayton’s readiness to host this significant international assembly."
Dayton Mayor Jeffrey J. Mims Jr. remarked on the honor of hosting such a prestigious event: “We are deeply honored to welcome the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to Dayton, a city that has long stood as a symbol of peace, diplomacy, and collaboration. Hosting this distinguished gathering is a testament to our city's legacy of fostering dialogue and finding solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.”
Chris Kershner, President & CEO of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, highlighted how important it is for businesses and residents in Dayton: “The Dayton NATO website provides the businesses and residents of the Dayton region access to the most up-to-date information and resources for this event,” he said.
The preparations have been underway since October 31 when a logo winner was revealed by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. A welcome video was unveiled on November 4 by Destination Dayton encapsulating what it means for Dayton to host this internationally significant event.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly links NATO with parliaments from its member nations. This marks a significant occasion as it will be held in Ohio—the first time a U.S. city hosts a Spring Session since its inception in 1955.
In 2022, Congressman Turner began discussions about bringing this assembly to coincide with the anniversary of historic accords signed in Dayton nearly three decades ago. This spring saw him officially announce alongside Governor DeWine that their city would indeed play host next year.
Turner himself has had extensive involvement with NATO PA since his appointment back in January 2009; he currently holds several key positions within its structure including Vice Chairman on Defense & Security Committee duties among others throughout these years leading up till now.
