Today in Dayton, Ohio, Congressman Mike Turner announced the venues for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's 2025 Spring Session. Turner was joined by Gabriel van Aalst, President and CEO of Dayton Live, and Erhardt Preitauer, President and CEO of CareSource. The Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, the Victoria Theatre, and CareSource facilities in downtown Dayton will host the event.
Congressman Turner expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with CareSource and Dayton Live to bring this event to downtown Dayton. "I am very proud for us to be partnering both with CareSource and with Dayton Live to be able to pull off this event in downtown Dayton," he said. He added that they aim to show Main Street USA by inviting the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to these local venues.
Gabriel van Aalst highlighted the significance of hosting NATO in Dayton. “Bringing NATO to Dayton will allow us as a community to honor the legacy of the Dayton Peace Accords, while keeping an eye on the future of the Miami Valley,” he stated.
Erhardt Preitauer thanked Congressman Turner for his leadership and noted CareSource's honor in being selected as a host location. “Thank you, Congressman Turner, for your exceptional work and leadership in general, but today especially for bringing the 2025 Spring Session of the NATO Assembly right here to our amazing Dayton, Ohio,” he remarked.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly serves as a connection between NATO and parliaments from its 32 member nations. This will be its first Spring Session hosted by the United States since its inception in 1955. The last U.S.-hosted session was held in Orlando in Fall 2003.
In 2022, discussions were initiated by Turner to bring this session to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the historic Dayton Accords. In spring earlier this year, Turner's announcement confirmed that from May 23-25, 2025, Daytona would host this international assembly.
Turner has been involved with NATO PA since January 2009 and has served as Head of the U.S. Delegation since January 2011 when Republicans are in majority control of Congress' lower chamber.
