Turner Hosts Awards Ceremony for 2024 Congressional Art Competition

DAYTON, OHIO– Yesterday, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) announced the winner of the Tenth Congressional District’s 2024 Congressional Art Competition. More than 200 students from Ohio’s 10th District submitted their work for this year’s competition.

The winner of this year’s competition is Meela Seaquist, a 12th grade student at Dayton Christian School. Meela’s winning artwork was selected by a panel of judges, including Dr. Shannon Peck-Bartle from the Dayton Art Institute, Matt Flick from The Modern College of Design, and local artist Amy Kollar Anderson.

"I congratulate Meela Seaquist – the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition from our district," said Congressman Mike Turner. "The Miami Valley is home to some of the most talented young artists in the nation and this year’s art competition was among our most competitive yet with 212 submissions from 12 high schools."

For the next year, Meela’s artwork will be on display in the United States Capitol for Members of Congress, their staff, and visitors to appreciate," added Congressman Mike Turner.

The winners of the competition were as follows:

- First place from Dayton Christian School – Meela Seaquist – for her work titled “Feeling Pretty.”

- Second place from Stivers School for the Arts – Da'Niyah Martin – for her work titled “Mary.”

- Third place from Trotwood-Madison High School – Malcom Fisher – for his work titled “ADHD.”
