Holiday Lighting Awards | City of Centerville

The winners of the 2022 Holiday Lighting Awards have been announced by the Centerville City Beautiful Commission.

Each residential winner was recognized during the Dec. 19 Centerville City Council Meeting and received a City of Centerville sherpa blanket and brunch for two at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace. The Community Pride business winner received a plaque recognizing their holiday lighting display.

  • 6460 Far Hills Avenue, King Orthodontics
WHAT IS THE CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION:

The City Beautiful Commission is comprised of Centerville residents who are interested in making Centerville a beautiful place to live and work through preservation of the City's flora and fauna. Commission members are volunteers approved and appointed by the Centerville City Council. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month and are open to the public.

WHAT DOES THE COMMISSION DO:

  • The City is divided in to seven zones with Commission members assigned to the various zones.
  • The Summer Landscape Awards are given during July, August, and September.
  • In addition to the monthly awards, a property that has won three times previously may be considered for the Mayor's Award. The entire Commission meets to select the winner.
  • In December, CBC selects winners of the Holiday Lighting Awards.
  • The Commission works with and advises City staff on annual flower and landscape bed materials and trees to be planted in public areas in Centerville. Commission members also plant and maintain the beds at Four Corners in Centerville's Uptown.
  • Since 1986, the City of Centerville has received the Tree City USA award presented by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in coordination with the Arbor Day Foundation. City Beautiful members participate in this honor by organizing an Arbor Day celebration each year.
  • The Commission's responsibilities include planning an annual public education seminar on various topics such as perennial gardens, 'What's Eating our Trees?", and container gardens.
