Dayton Metro Library has partnered with The Foodbank to become an official Pantry Partner location in Montgomery County, with ten select DML Branches opening Pantries in mid-October. In preparation for the Partner Pantry Branch locations to open, all DML facilities will hold a food drive beginning Monday, October 3.
Collection bins will be on site at every DML facility to collect donations that will then be directly given to patrons at Pantry Partner Branch Locations.
Branches will accept the following donation items:
- Unopened/unexpired non-perishable items that are canned, boxed, or pre-packaged
- Unopened and unexpired pet food (these donations will be kept separately from the food bins)
- Unopened (sealed) personal products, including shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products, including travel sizes (these donations will be kept separately from the food bins)
- Anything opened or expired
- Fresh produce
- Refrigerated or frozen items
Times and days of the week for DML’s Pantry Partner locations will be released soon. DML hopes that the collection drives continue on a regular basis. Patrons should check with their local Branches about future drives, visit DaytonMetroLibrary.org/Meals for updates, or call the Library’s Ask Me Line at 937.463.2665 with questions.
