The City of Dayton has launched an updated online reporting system to streamline the process for community members to report certain crimes and minor traffic accidents. The Dayton Online Reporting System (DORS) can be accessed via computer or mobile device.

For incidents involving a known suspect, individuals are still required to call and report the crime so that an officer can respond in person or it can be managed by the Telephone Reporting Unit. However, various types of reports are now eligible for online submission.

Eligible complaints for online reporting include animal bites, breaking and entering (B&E), criminal damaging/vandalism, fraud, identity theft, lost property, accidental property damage, telephone harassment, theft (including vehicle-related theft), gas drive-offs related to theft, and traffic accidents requiring only a report number.

The website provides detailed explanations for each type of crime and outlines what qualifies for online submission. The Dayton Police Department encourages users to provide comprehensive information in their narratives submitted through DORS. If additional evidence such as pictures or videos is available, users can indicate this in their narrative and will receive a link to submit these materials.

The Dayton Online Reporting System is accessible through the city's website.
