Articles written by University of Dayton faculty for the popular news organization The Conversation have been read more than 6 million times worldwide.
Readers learned why communion matters from Gudorf Chair in Catholic Intellectual Traditions Timothy Gabrielli; that some people end up living in airports for months — even years — at a time thanks to history Professor Janet Bednarek; how exercise can make you sick with health and sport science Associate Professor Anne Crecelius; and more. Faculty also shared their research on COVID-19, climate change, elections and other topics making headlines.

"The Conversation strives to amplify the voices of experts like those at the University of Dayton who spend their careers researching a topic," said Michelle McAdams, university relationship manager. "Our goal is to connect academics and the public so readers have fact-based information in a time when too often the loudest and most divisive voices dominate."
Since the Conversation's launch, 76 UD faculty have contributed 167 articles. They've been read on websites like CNN.com, PBS, U.S. News & World Report, Popular Science, the Smithsonian and more.
"An important part of being a university for the common good is making the fruits of faculty scholarship and creative work widely accessible," said Paul H. Benson, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. "It takes a good deal of time, thought and energy to write these articles, and we thank our faculty for their commitment to improving the quality of public understanding and discourse."
