As temperatures are expected to drop significantly, the City of Dayton has announced that it will operate its three recreation centers as warming centers for residents. These facilities will be open from Tuesday to Friday, January 21-24, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, January 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The recreation centers will remain closed on Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For those requiring shelter outside of these hours, the St. Vincent DePaul shelters are available at any time.
Residents are encouraged to check on their neighbors who might need assistance and remember the needs of pets during this cold spell.
For updates on weather conditions and winter-related warnings, residents can visit the National Weather Service’s Wilmington office website. Fire safety information is accessible through the Dayton Fire Department's website.
