Montgomery County Commissioner Debbie Lieberman will serve as the President of the Board of County Commissioners for 2023. Lieberman was elected by fellow Commissioners Judy Dodge and Carolyn Rice on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022.

"It is a privilege to be on the Board of County Commissioners since 2004," Lieberman said. "I am excited to have the opportunity to use my experience and continued commitment to the citizens of Montgomery County to improve our community."

Commissioner Lieberman has significantly impacted the lives of thousands of residents involved in the judicial system through her work with the Montgomery County Reentry Council alongside U.S. Judge Walter Rice. In addition, she serves as the Board President for the County Commissioners' Association of Ohio (CCAO), a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the NACo Human Services and Education Steering Committee and was appointed as a member of the Economic Mobility Leadership Network.

Commissioner Lieberman is also the Chief Elected Official for the Greater Ohio Workforce Board, which provides workforce job training and recruitment services for thousands of people and employers in 43 counties.

Commissioner Lieberman's top initiatives include enhancing outcomes for returning citizens, creating new jobs and training opportunities through her workforce development efforts, universal preschool and infant vitality.

"The County aims to expand on our achievements and initiatives," said Commissioner Lieberman. "We celebrate our successes but know there is more work to do, and I am walking into 2023 ready to tackle these issues with optimism, drive and compassion."

Commissioner Lieberman was recognized as a "Woman of Influence" by the Dayton Area YWCA and named one of the 2012 "Ten Top Women" by the Dayton Daily News. She was also named the Dayton Business Journal Regional Leader of the Year in 2014, becoming the first elected official to receive that award. In addition, for the past nine years, she has received the Dayton Business Journal Power 50, recognizing the 50 most influential female leaders in the region.

Commissioner Lieberman graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law and worked for the Legal Aid Society of Dayton. She also served in the Montgomery County Auditor's Office as Director of Real Estate and Chief Deputy Auditor. She is also a former City of Clayton Council member.
