Cost of college went up for all students at Sinclair Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 9 percent for 2018-19 at Sinclair Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Ohio residents paid $4,004 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $330 more than the $3,674 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 81.6 percent more than residents this year, or $7,271. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 4.8 percent from $6,938 in 2017-18.

About 96 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Ohio residents. And about 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,205 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.1 million and 493 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (18,576), 8,554 students used grants or scholarships totaling $26.3 million, and 4,952 students took out $21.1 million in federal student loans.
