Congressman Mike Turner has expressed his support for Romania as the country prepares for the second round of its presidential election. In a statement, Turner congratulated Romanian citizens on the completion of the first round, describing it as a significant step for Romanian democracy. He noted that this process reaffirms the voters' determination to reclaim their democratic path, which was disrupted last December.

Turner emphasized the importance of restoring trust in Romania's judiciary and rule of law, which are fundamental elements guaranteed by the nation's Constitution. As Romania moves toward the next phase of its election, he anticipates a peaceful transition of power and looks forward to strengthening ties between the new Romanian government and the U.S. Congress.

"I congratulate the people of Romania on the successful first round of their presidential election," Turner stated. "This marks an important step forward for Romanian democracy, and reaffirms the voice of the Romanian voters in their quest to reclaim their path to democracy, abruptly lost last December."

He further commented on Romania's need to regain confidence in its legal system: "Romania must regain its complete trust in the judiciary system and the rule of law – as guaranteed by its Constitution."

Turner concluded with optimism about future relations: "As the second round of voting approaches, I look forward to the peaceful transfer of power and to deepening the partnership between the new Romanian government and the United States Congress."
