House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford has extended his congratulations to Tulsi Gabbard following her confirmation by the U.S. Senate as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). This announcement was made in Washington, D.C., on February 12, 2025.
Chairman Crawford highlighted the origins of the DNI role, which was created after the September 11th attacks to improve coordination among intelligence agencies and prevent future intelligence failures. He noted that while it remains debatable whether the Office of the DNI has fully achieved its intended goals, he is optimistic about Ms. Gabbard's leadership.
"I am very pleased to see the Senate has confirmed my former colleague Ms. Tulsi Gabbard to be the new DNI," stated Chairman Crawford. "I congratulate Ms. Gabbard on her confirmation. She understands the challenges the ODNI, and the IC writ large, face."
Crawford expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Gabbard in addressing these challenges and emphasized the importance of strengthening intelligence collection while upholding American values and freedoms. "Our national security depends on it," he concluded.
