"This year’s National Defense Authorization Act authorizes over $60 million to advance critical projects at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a testament to the vital role Ohio plays in strengthening our national security," stated Congressman Turner. He emphasized that "the NDAA also provides a much-needed pay raise and improved benefits for our service members."
The NDAA outlines several initiatives for Miami Valley, including $9.2 million for planning and design towards constructing an Advanced Materials Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB, $1.9 million for designing the Space Force Intelligence Center, and $53 million for a district cooling plant project aimed at enhancing energy efficiency.
Overall highlights of the FY 2025 NDAA include support for servicemember quality of life with pay raises and housing improvements, enhancements in healthcare access and staffing, as well as increased funding for technological innovation such as hypersonics and AI.
In terms of foreign policy and national security, the act authorizes $15.6 billion to strengthen U.S. deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region and invests in missile defense capabilities. It also establishes measures to counter Chinese influence through various prohibitions and safeguards.
