Congressman Mike Turner, along with Dayton Chamber of Commerce President Chris Kershner and Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims Jr., recognized Kim Swigart for her winning logo design for the 2025 NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session. The event will be hosted in Dayton, Ohio, marking the first time the U.S. has hosted a Spring Session of the Assembly.
Swigart's design was chosen from 36 local submissions and will be officially unveiled at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly annual session in Montreal this November. Congressman Turner expressed that "this logo will go around the world" as it promotes the upcoming event in Dayton.
Chris Kershner highlighted the significance of having a local designer win this competition, stating, "To have a local person...couldn't make me happier." Mayor Mims also praised the community's efforts and progress over recent years, acknowledging support from various organizations including Jobs Ohio and Congressman Turner.
Kim Swigart, founder and chief creative officer of DezignHive, shared her gratitude: “I just feel so lucky to have a job that lets me get back to community.”
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly serves as a link between NATO and parliaments of its member nations. The United States last hosted an assembly session in Orlando in 2003. Discussions to bring this event to Dayton began in 2022 by Congressman Turner, aligning with the anniversary of the Dayton Accords.
Congressman Turner has been involved with NATO PA since 2009 and has served as Head of the U.S. Delegation since 2011. He also held positions such as President of NATO PA from 2014 to 2016 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of its Defense & Security Committee.
