Mike Turner receives top NFIB award for support of small businesses

Congressman Mike Turner, representing Ohio's 10th district, has been awarded the National Federation of Independent Business's (NFIB) "Guardian of Small Business Award." This recognition is the NFIB's highest legislative honor and is given to lawmakers who have consistently supported small businesses by voting in alignment with key small business priorities at least 70 percent of the time during the 118th Congress. Congressman Turner has achieved a perfect score, supporting small businesses in every vote.

Turner expressed his commitment to small businesses, stating, "Small businesses are the cornerstone of the Miami Valley. During my time as Mayor of Dayton, I had the opportunity to work with local businesses, and in Congress, I’ve remained committed to supporting small businesses through tax relief, regulatory reform, and further investment in infrastructure. I will continue to champion the causes that matter most to our Dayton-area businesses."

Brad Close, President of NFIB, emphasized the importance of this award: "The NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award is presented to Members of Congress with a demonstrated record of supporting America’s small and independent business owners. This Congress, small businesses faced tough economic headwinds, especially from inflation, burdensome regulations, and threats of tax hikes at all levels of government. We are proud to recognize the lawmakers from the 118th Congress, including Congressman Mike Turner, who stood up for Main Street by taking pro-small business votes that would reduce taxes, eliminate burdensome government mandates, lower health insurance costs, and fuel the Main Street economy."

During his time in office throughout the 118th Congress, Turner has backed several bills aimed at assisting small businesses and their employees. One such bill is the Main Street Tax Certainty Act which aims to make permanent a tax deduction for qualified business income. Turner is a cosponsor of this legislation.

Additionally, Turner's efforts include securing funding for community projects beneficial to Miami Valley small businesses. Notable projects include $4 million allocated for Wright Factory Business Park and $1 million for Greater West Dayton Incubator. These initiatives aim to provide essential resources that bolster local entrepreneurs and business communities.
