Sec. of State Frank LaRose (R-Ohio), who is running for U.S. Senate, said that “Ohio stands with Texas” in the latter state’s efforts to secure its border with Mexico.

“Ohio stands with Texas,” LaRose posted on X. “I served on the southern border over 20 years ago. It was a mess back then, but it's 10x worse now.”

“Let me be clear: I'm willing to use lethal force to protect our families and secure the border. Kill the cartels, so they can't kill our fellow Americans.”

LaRose last week released a border security plan that includes sending three U.S. military divisions to the U.S.-Mexico border.

He also said the U.S. government should label Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations and re-institute a travel ban “from nations who have no security apparatus or ability to verify the background of the travelers.” LaRose said there should be “no amnesty for those who come illegally” and deportation for those illegal aliens who came into he U.S. since the Biden Administration came to office.

U.S. border officials apprehended more than 300,000 illegal aliens in December 2023, which set a monthly record, reported The Guardian on Dec. 31.   

As of September 2023, “Border Patrol agents have seized enough fentanyl to kill the entire U.S. population this fiscal year,” reported Fox News. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens said that agents seized more than 2,700 lbs of fentanyl just “between ports of entry.”

“This amount of fentanyl, which does not include the amount seized at ports of entry, is more than enough lethal doses to kill the entire population of the United States,” said the report.

LaRose is running in Ohio’s March 19, 2024 Republican primary for U.S. Senate. The winner will challenge Democrat Sherrod Brown, who is running for his fourth term.

His opponents are State Sen. Matt Dolan (R-Chardon) and former auto dealer Bernie Moreno of Westlake.

LaRose represented Summit County in the Ohio State Senate (2011-2018) before being elected Ohio Secretary of State in 2019. He previously served in the U.S. Army, where he was a member of U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret, and earned a B.S. from the Ohio State University.

An Akron native, LaRose, 44, lives in Columbus with his wife and three daughters.
