Congressman Turner secures $3 Million in funding for completion of Dayton Arcade's Innovation Center

Congressman Mike Turner announced the allocation of $3 million in congressional Community Project Funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the finalization of the south portion of the University of Dayton's Arcade Innovation Hub. This funding aims to promote local economic development and foster innovation within the community.

The initial announcement regarding this allocation included a statement from Congressman Mike Turner. According to the press release, Congressman Mike Turner said that federal funding for the renovation of the Dayton Arcade's Innovation Center was a great achievement, highlighting the collaboration of local, county, state, and federal financing that contributed to preservation of the building. Turner emphasized on significance of the building's history and its role in inspiring future accomplishments.

Subsequent reactions illustrated how essential these funds were in facilitating progress at this facility. "Congressman Turner provided essential federal resources that facilitated completion of third floor construction at this facility, allowing us to fully realize Arcade Innovation Hub and expand our capacity to serve dozens more companies annually," stated Scott Koorndyk, President of Entrepreneurs’ Center. Koorndyk underscored impact of Turner's leadership and ongoing dedication which shows center’s role as supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs across various sectors in community.

Another voice emphasizing gratitude towards Congressman Turner came from Shelley Dickstein, City Manager of Dayton. Shelley Dickstein expressed gratitude to Congressman Turner for his vital assistance in bringing vibrant Innovation Center to life. With earmark funding secured through collaboration, once obscure space now not only exists but thrives by generating essential revenue.

Moreover, Dean Trevor Collier added his voice expressing thanks for support received. Trevor Collier, Dean School of Business Administration at University of Dayton also extends thanks for Turner's support in completing the Hub, emphasizing its broad benefits for students and entrepreneurs, fostering collaboration in multidisciplinary space at heart of regional startup ecosystem.

The final part of the press release touched on the utilization of these funds. The funds will aid in renovating historic Arcade for additional office, kitchen, art, business and community spaces. Constructed in 1902-1904, Arcade is architecturally significant and its revitalization is strategic priority for Dayton, fostering partnerships with University of Dayton for educational initiatives.
