Clark-LaPlaca Announces 2023 Schedule

University of Dayton softball head coach Cara Clark-LaPlaca has announced the complete schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. UD is set to open the season in sunny Florida and has 17 games scheduled at the Flyers' UD Softball Stadium.

Among Dayton's opponents for 2023, five competed in the 2022 NCAA Softball Championship.

The Flyers have trips to Florida and Alabama scheduled to open the 2023 campaign as Dayton will take part in Stetson's Frank Griffin Classic Feb. 10-12 and Auburn's Tiger Invitational Feb. 17-19. All-in-all, UD will play 10 games in the month of February, including three contests against teams that qualified for the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

March will kick off with a trip to the state of Kentucky as the Flyers will compete in Eastern Kentucky's annual Colonel Classic March 2-4 in Richmond. UD is also scheduled for a single game at SEC foe Kentucky March 8. Dayton will close out pre-conference tournament play at Austin Peay for four games in Tennessee.

The home portion of the 2023 schedule is slated to get underway March 16 with a doubleheader against Bellarmine at UD Softball Stadium. Atlantic 10 Conference action will begin the following weekend with a three-game set against 2022 Champion Fordham in Dayton March 18-19. Dayton will be at Northern Kentucky March 21 for two at NKU but the team will close out March at home with an A-10 series against Massachusetts March 25-26 and a single game against in-state foe Ohio State March 29.

The first four games of April will be on the road for Dayton as it heads to the nation's capital for a three-game conference set at George Washington April 1-2. UD will be at Butler for a single game April 4. The Flyers will welcome the Billikens of Saint Louis to UD Softball Stadium April 7-8 for three conference games in a quick reprieve from the road. Back on the grind, Dayton will play a total of seven games away from home April 12-19 at St. Bonaventure, Rhode Island and IUPUI.
In the second half of April, George Mason will come to town for A-10 games in Dayton April 22-23 followed by the Flyers' finals non-conference matchup for 

two games against Morehead State April 26. Dayton will close out the 2023 regular season on the road with three-game series at Saint Joseph's April 29-30 and at A-10 newcomer Loyola Chicago May 6-7.

The 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship will be contested May 10-13 in Bronx, New York. Fordham will be hosting the post-season tournament at the Rams' Bahoshy Field. The Flyers' made the program's ninth-consecutive and 13th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2022.

Clark-LaPlaca is entering her 16th season as head coach of the Dayton Flyers. With 345 wins at the helm of the Flyers program, she is Dayton's career wins leader. She has tallied a total of 476 victories over her 21-year head coaching career, just 24 shy of the 500-wins mark.
