Donley, Gemelli, Lutz Earn All-Region Accolades
All Three Student-Athletes Were Named All-Ohio As Well
The University of Dayton women's soccer program had three student-athletes recognized on by the United Soccer Coaches as All-East Region honorees.
Junior Itala Gemelli picked up First Team All-Region while seniors Alicia Donley and Mackenzie Lutz earned Second Team All-East Region.
Gemelli was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 this past season while leading the Flyers with 12 goals and 27 points. The Rochester, Mich. native also earned First Team All-Ohio and All-Academic Team honors while leading the A-10 in scoring.
Donley was a veteran leader on the defense, holding opponents to just 0.86 goals per game. She also chipped in on the offensive end with four goals and three assists, ranking third and fourth on the team respectively. She made 20 appearances this past season and was named Second Team All-Conference and First Team All-Ohio.
Lutz led the Flyers in minutes played this fall as another senior leader on the defense. The Sylvania, Ohio native earned First Team All-A-10 and All-Ohio honors and started all 21 games this year. She helped lead the third-best defense in the conference and already has 70 games played in her career.
These three student-athletes helped the Flyers advance to the A-10 Championship game and post an overall record of 16-4-1 and 8-2 in league play.
