Constitutional Rights, Artificial Intelligence, and the Metaverse

The University of Dayton School of Law invites you to attend the 2022 Gilvary Symposium on Friday, October 7 in the Keller Hall Courtroom from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET.
The symposium will explore the topic, "Constitutional Rights, Artificial Intelligence, and the Metaverse."
The development of computer systems, which are able to perform tasks usually carried out by human agency, is shaping a new society. The undertaking of government functions and private services has increased the use of algorithms that guide important decisions impacting our liberties and our security. The increasing use of algorithms and artificial intelligence - including uses for surveillance, official and judicial decision-making, and encryption of data - gives rise to new advantages and challenges to the respect and protection of constitutional rights. The development of the metaverse has potentiated those advantages and challenges. This Gilvary Symposium aims to explore them, and assess how the theory and practice of constitutional rights should respond to them.
CLE credit of 7 hours (5 hours General; 2 hours Professional Attorney Conduct) in Ohio is approved.

CLE credit of 7 hours (5 hours General; 2 hours Professional Attorney Conduct) in Ohio is approved. Non-Ohio CLE credit available upon request to state bar authorities (at the discretion of the state). Those requesting CLE from other states will have to apply for it on their own.
