Boonsoft Museum Of Discovery issued the following announcement on Oct 15.
It's time for another October oddity from the Discovery BOO! The blue poison dart frog has an amazing adaptation that allows them to produce toxin from the prey they eat, especially ants.
After using its sticky tongue to capture small prey items, the toxic compounds are secreted by glands in the frog’s skin. At the zoo, these ‘azureus’ frogs are fed a diet of fruit flies and bean beetles that do not contain the chemicals that cause them to develop toxins.
