Today, Congressman Mike Turner announced a $2,000,000 federal grant from the Department of Transportation to aid in planning efforts for reconfiguring the US-35 corridor in Dayton. This funding aims to revitalize the area through Dayton's urban core and West Dayton, enhancing connectivity and economic vitality.

"The $2,000,000 federal grant for the Revive35 project is a critical investment in Dayton’s future, addressing public safety, accessibility, and economic growth," stated Congressman Mike Turner. "I am proud to help secure funding that prioritizes our community’s needs while fostering collaboration with local stakeholders."

Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims expressed optimism about the grant's potential impact: "Today marks an exciting step forward for our city as we announce the receipt of a $2,000,000 grant to conduct a comprehensive planning study for the US-35 corridor. This grant will allow us to explore innovative solutions to enhance connectivity, stimulate local economic growth, and improve the accessibility of on- and off-ramps along US-35. By reimagining this critical transportation route, we are creating new opportunities for our community, strengthening Dayton's infrastructure, and fostering a more vibrant future for residents and businesses alike."

The grant will fund a comprehensive study focused on reconfiguring the US-35 corridor. The City of Dayton plans to engage with the community to explore solutions that improve mobility and safety while considering environmental impacts. Proposed measures include reviewing intersections and interchanges for potential changes that support sustainable development.

This initiative falls under the FY24 Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) program managed by the DOT's Office of the Secretary of Transportation. The program aims to mitigate negative effects of past infrastructure decisions by supporting projects that enhance connectivity.
