The Dayton Police Dept. will conduct a curfew sweep on Friday, May 27. The sweep is in response to complaints of disruptive activities, including fighting and property destruction, by groups of juveniles in the late evening hours, particularly on weekends.
Per City of Dayton law, juveniles (anyone under the age of 18) not accompanied by a parent or guardian are not allowed to loiter, loaf, or idle on or about any public street, avenue, alley, park, or other public place between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. except under specific conditions (See RCGO 137.10).
Any juveniles picked up after curfew will be transported to Central Business District headquarters (248 Salem Ave.) to be picked up by a parent/guardian. Both the juvenile and parent/guardian will receive a minor misdemeanor citation. The adult will also receive a list of potential resources in hopes of preventing the juvenile from breaking curfew again. All attempts will be made to get in contact with a guardian to pick-up the juvenile, however if no guardian is located, the juvenile will be taken to the Juvenile Detention Center where they will remain until a guardian is located
