DML Hosts UD Dunbar Art Exhibit, Performance

Dayton Metro Library will host Echoes Through Time in the Main Library’s Opportunity Space @ St. Clair, Wednesday, November 9 – Friday, December 9.

Echoes Through Time is a typographic poster exhibition and a collaborative experiential-learning project between Michelle Hayford, Minnita Daniel-Cox, and Misty Thomas-Trout. It presents a theatrical visualization of the legacy of Dayton native and world-renowned poet Paul Laurence Dunbar through theatre, song, and graphic design.

While the posters will remain on display during normal operating hours at the Library, on Friday, November 18, from 4-6 pm, a celebratory reception will be held in the Opportunity Space @ St. Clair, with a special theatrical performance.

With support from DML, the University of Dayton Department of Art and Design, and the University of Dayton Office of Experiential Learning, UD graphic design students, under the direction of Thomas-Trout, have explored and analyzed the history of Dunbar through the practical, poetic, and persuasive nature of typography.
