Dayton Metro Library is hosting a Vestiges of Redlining: Mapping Equity in Dayton exhibit, on display in the Main Library’s Opportunity Space @ Patterson through Saturday, December 17.
Vestiges, created by Dr. Jacqueline Housel, a Sinclair Community College Geography professor, and a group of six students, is a response to how “redlining” affects Dayton and surrounding areas. Redlining is a practice that stems from the 1930s where the government ranked neighborhoods by using color-coded maps to decide who could receive subsidized housing loans and other resources. The Vestiges maps depict powerful data that shows how some communities in the Dayton area still battle having more or less resources and opportunities than others.

Vestiges of Redlining Docent TalkWednesday, November 16, 2 – 3 pmFriday, November 18, 11 am – 12 pmDr. Housel will provide a guided tour of the exhibit, answer questions, and discuss data information. Registration is required for both Docent Talks.
Look for this exhibit to travel to additional DML locations in 2023.
