November is Native American Heritage Month and Dayton Metro Library encourages patrons of all ages to learn about different tribes, cultures, and traditions.

Boonshoft Museum of Discovery Artifact Display (For All Ages)
Burkhardt, E.C. Doren, and Trotwood Branch Libraries
On display from Tuesday, November 1 – Friday, December 2

DML and Boonshoft have partnered to display artifacts from the museum’s ethnographic collections, including items from the Eastern Woodlands, American Southwest, and The Plains tribes.

Medicine Women: The Heart of Our Communities Panel Discussion (For Adults)
Main Library, Eichelberger Forum, Saturday, November 5, 6 – 9 pm

This program includes a panel of five Indigenous women and community allies who are using their medicine to make a difference. Presented by Stephanie Van Hoose, Mohawk, MBQ, T-MT. Registration is required.

We Are Still Here: A Conversation with Guy Jones (For Adults)
Main Library, Community Room 2A, 2nd Floor, Thursday, November 10, 6 – 7:30 pm

Enjoy a community dialogue and Q&A session as Jones discusses the modern- and present-day perception and reality of Native Americans based here in Dayton.

Mother Goose on the Loose Storytime: Native American Heritage Month Edition (For Birth to 24 months, with older siblings welcome)
Burkhardt Branch Library, Tuesday, November 15, 4 – 5 pm

DML’s award-winning early literacy-based program will present stories by and about Native Americans that use music, rhymes, stories, and more to stimulate the learning process for babies and toddlers.

Native American Heritage Preschool Storytime (For Ages 3-5)
Miamisburg Branch Library, Wednesday, November 16, 10 – 11 am

DML’s traditional preschool storytime will celebrate Native American Heritage Month through stories, songs, and fun learning activities designed to develop language, literacy, and social skills.
