Tuition rates for in-state students at Sinclair Community College rose by 5.5% during the 2022-23 academic year, based on the latest figures released, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Ohio residents paid $4,569 to attend the public institution this year, an increase of $240 from the $4,329 charged in the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident students faced tuition costs 82% higher than those for residents in 2022-23, paying $8,316. This amount reflects a 3% increase from the $8,076 tuition fee in 2021-22.

Approximately 97% of Sinclair Community College’s undergraduate students are Ohio residents, with about 1% coming from other states and 3% classified as international students.

Data indicates that 80% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled in the 2022-23 academic year received some form of financial aid. A total of 827 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $3.7 million, while 406 students obtained student loans exceeding $1.8 million.

Across the entire undergraduate population, 7,615 students utilized grants or scholarships totaling $23.9 million. Additionally, 3,758 students borrowed $16.3 million in federal student loans.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
